NationofGO.com – Taking it Off-road at Superlift ORV Park in Hot Springs Arkansas

Our previous off-road excursions were with four-wheelers in the desert. In my Nation of GO Schedule post, I added some of my photography from the tour at that point. This post, is all about my favorite photographs I’ve taken since then. Chronologically, these images fall under the first half of the trip. Meaning that there will be a couple more posts to cover all of my favorite shots from the last half of the trip.

Some fine Chevrolet builds at Rich Evans. I was happy to fire off this shot as the sun was flaring behind the Camaro.

After California, we entered Arizona. We shot some off roading in AZ and I was busy operating my Panasonic HPX-170 and editing video. Once we hit Texas, I was able to get behind the lens of the Canon 5D MII again. Here are my favorite shots from Austin Speed Shop. Check out the video here.

Met Von Franco, who is a rad artist, musician, and rodder. He sketched Rat Fink on the side of the van.

He also has a good sense of humor.

Then into Arkansas to the Superlift 4 x 4 park.

What’s your favorite image?

Desert Dingo Racing is a Baja 1000 team who contacted us on twitter while we were in San Francisco. On the way to Los Angeles, we stopped by to check out their beetle. Which was getting painted for an upcoming summit. The team is a real inspiration. Having never run the Baja, they assembled a car and picked a cause to raise money for and to raise awareness for with their racing.

Shot on a Panasonic HPX-170 with a Letus 35 adapter, 28mm, and 50mm lenses.

For the first day of the Nation of GO, we paid a visit to Roy Brizio – owner of Brizio’s Street Rods in South San Francisco. Brizio’s is a nostalgic shop. Its covered with old neon, tin advertisements, and plenty of 32 Fords. Brizio has made a name for himself by building the Ford Coupes.

Coming from a sport compact and import background it is interesting to me to learn about classic Domestic cars.

While we were wrapping up our shoot, Neil Young, one of Brizio’s customers came in to check out his build. Considering that Eric Clapton is having two cars build by Brizio currently too – Roy is doing it proper.

The Nation of GO crew showed up at San Francisco International Airport a little before noon. 7 of us, who will travel around the United States in a van and a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart Sportback. We set off to the hotel and then to grab some photos of the van and Ralliart for the blog.

We have some great gear for the trip. A couple of Canon 5D Mark II’s and a variety of L Series lenses. When we went past this park, above, the sun was low in the sky and creating some nice flares.

So I snapped these quick shots on the way to shoot the Nation of GO van with the crew:

San Francisco is one of my favorite cities. Why? Well, because its more condensed then Las Angeles and not as gigantic as New York City. Plus it has some of my favorite clothing stores: Upper Playground and Free Gold Watch.

Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge in some evening fog. Tomorrow, we head out to check out some local San Francisco Street Rod builders.

Driving across the country in a van.

Well…not just a van, a Mitsubishi Ralliart Sportback too.
