<p style="text-align: left;">A little while back, <a title="Chris Forsberg Drag Race" href="http://willroegge.com/blog/2009/01/07/forsberg-at-fontana-drag-strip/" target="_blank">I posted about getting to watch Chris Forsberg drag race</a> his drift built 350z at Fontana drag strip. Joey Redmond, of Wrecked Magazine, invited me to go with him and check out the occasion. Which is a great reminder that purpose built cars can be multi-purpose and by adjusting a few things- the power can be utilized in a different form. So a car that can freely break traction in high gear can also power down, launch hard, and record a fast ET in a drag race.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a title="StreetFire.net Chris Forsberg Drag Race" href="http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Chris-Forsberg-hits-the_636804.htm" target="_blank">Here is my edit from a day at Fontana Drag Strip drag racing with Chris Forsberg. </a></p>

<p>It all started Friday, when Joey Redmond hit me up and asked if I wanted to go to Fontana Drag Strip Saturday. Fontana is one of the few remaining quarter mile drag strips in southern California. I had been there once before, for Battle of the Imports. This trip was to watch Formula D Pro <a title="Chris Forsberg Racing" href="http://chrisforsberg.com/" target="_blank">Chris Forsberg</a> run his competition Nissan 350z on the strip.</p>
<p>Crossing over to a different form of motorsports is nothing new- but using the same car is mind blowing. Check out these images from the weekend. Hats off to Chris, Kevin, and Sergio for running an 11.9 on their first pass- without nitrous. If the weather held up, I&#8217;m sure that time would have dropped by a second! A 10 second drift car- impressive.</p>
<p><span id="more-443"></span></p>
<p><a href="http://willroegge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/p1010644.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-450" title="p1010644" src="http://willroegge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/p1010644.jpg" alt="" width="281" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Hurry up and wait. The lines were long and the junior dragsters had to qualify- all before Chris&#8217; pass.</p>
<p><a href="http://willroegge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/p1010638.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-448" title="p1010638" src="http://willroegge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/p1010638.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="281" /></a></p>
<p>Familiar FD car.</p>
<p><a href="http://willroegge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/p1010637.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-447" title="p1010637" src="http://willroegge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/p1010637.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="281" /></a></p>
<p>Unfamiliar drag slicks.</p>
<p><a href="http://willroegge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/p1010636.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-446" title="p1010636" src="http://willroegge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/p1010636.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="281" /></a></p>
<p>Drift Alliance.</p>
<p><a href="http://willroegge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/p1010647.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-444" title="p1010647" src="http://willroegge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/p1010647.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="227" /></a></p>
<p>Clouds and snow in the mountains.</p>
<p><a href="http://willroegge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/p1010641.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-449" title="p1010641" src="http://willroegge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/p1010641.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="281" /></a></p>
<p>Forsberg looking worried. Getting up early and having to wait around for your class, then rain delays, and the usual oil spills on the track.</p>
<p>Overall awesome day. Nice to finally meet another Formula Drift team!</p>
<p>I think 2009 could be Forsberg&#8217;s season. Considering the car changes the other top drivers are making this year- staying in the same car and adding more power is a good recipe for success. As other drivers work out the kinks, I think podiums are in the cards for this team.</p>
