Bob Moczydlowsky directs  72 Musicians, a documentary about indepedent musicians and the struggles that come with persuing a love of performing and creating music. I’ve known Bob for the past 3 years through working at the Sundance Film Festival.

Sundance increasingly becomes more and more like summer camp each year. This could be because of all of the fun people that surround you and all the different activities happening at once. It might also be because its a break from reality. It’s a festival dedicated to the unique voice, the untold story, and the artist.

The last few days of the festival, we experienced power problems and were forced to move to festival headquarters in order to keep editing.

Icicles get to a point where they aren’t cute and decorative, but legitimate menacing killers.

They are not as scary as this face. Mid-edit face.

Calvin from the Sundance Insider team whipped up this Bacon explosion – sausage wrapped in a woven blanket of bacon – topped with BBQ sauce. Legendary.

Brandon Joseph Baker, showed off his bartender skills and made some tasty bloody marys. The left-over feast Saturday and Sunday nights at Sundance is quite a scene. Dave Drusky and I made pizza, omelets, sandwiches, and soup for our feast. Note for 2011 – one person buy peanut butter.

2009-2010 Snowboard season, count = 7 days. Got to double that amount.

Live @ Sundance – Ten Days of Different

The cinematic rebellion has only just begun. Let’s look back at ten days of different. Every festival, the Live @ Sundance team produces a “week in review” video. This year, after doing a paper edit of memorable quotes, we dove into the days of footage from this year’s festival. After locking down a quote based skeleton, we overlaid b-roll from films, events, and locations around Park City. Each one of the four editors had a pass on the edit. We all feel like the finished product is a solid piece of content.

Live @ Sundance – Bill Gates on Art & Technology

Bill Gates visited the Sundance 2010 Filmmaker’s Brunch and took a moment to speak with the Live @ Sundance team. We asked him about the role of technology in art – specifically filmmaking. Bill also gives us insight into Waiting for Superman a feature documentary at the festival. Bing – Microsoft’s re-branded search engine is a sponsor of the Sundance Film Festival.

Spike Jonze’s latest work is in the short’s program #1. Entitled “I’m Here” it is a robot love-story. Excited to see it, if I get some free time, during the Sundance Film Festival.

Banksy’s Exit Through the Gift Shop will premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. So the piece on Park Ave indicates that the artist himself is in Park City for the premiere. The full length film is due out in Spring 2010.

The flight up to Utah went quick. Before I knew it I was in a rented Jeep Wrangler driving up to Brighton. No new snow for the weekend. Still able to dig up some powder underneath the trees.

After a day of flying and dropping double black diamonds at Brighton – A Squatter’s meal and sampler was in order.

Sunday was off to Sundance. It was 4th time riding at the Sundance resort – Its so low key and the lift lines are shorter than anywhere else. The back bowl is one of the widest in any of the SLC area resorts. Plus the drive up and the scenery are worth the lift ticket price.

You can even hike some of the smaller peaks and drop in a pow pow gnar run of your own.

Only three lifts for the entire resort. The nice part is that the back two service the more advanced trails and never have lines.

Finally got the Free Gold Watch – Wolf Ticket shirt. Quick processing and shipping from the Giant Peach. Check out San Francisco’s Free Gold Watch – this shirt is at least a year old and they have been using 3M reflective ink for a while. 

Don’t sell Wolf Tickets. You know I want to go to the show.

Ever leave your camera out in the open. Only to find a bunch of random photos on it the next day? 

Sure, we all have. Here are random photos taken by other people on my camera during the Sundance film festival. 

Danny got a hold of the camera and snapped a few of these. Late nights of editing will make you crazy.

Mike looks like he accidently mixed Maker’s Mark and Coffee. Dave jams on some compression probably while listening to some good tunes.

This image reminds me of the movie posters for Captivity. Really I just have surfaced capillaries and get bloody noses sometimes. They don’t bother me and taking photos of them freaks people out.

Here is the Live @ Sundance 2009 Week in Review video. I did not edit this, but did shoot some of the clips used and did a few quick color grades. Now its time to kick back in the condo hot tub, watch a couple of films, and get ready to ride in the 6 inches of fresh pow that have blanketed Park City.
