Climb Attack, Rhys Millen’s 2009 Record-Setting Pike’s Peak run is a Finalist for the 2009 Motor Press Guild – Dean Batchelor Award for Audio/Visual. Climb Attack is a short film which documents Rhys Millen’s 12:09 ascent up Pike’s Peak during the 2009 Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb. The short, was envisioned by Rhys and developed over the course of the weeks leading up to the Hill Climb. Director, Will Roegge, brought on fellow filmmaker Joshua Herron as a second Camera Operator. Millen and Roegge story boarded the film prior to the running and utilizing a variety of POV, on-CAR, and manned cameras along the route – pieced together the final edit. Inspired by other Pike’s Peak films – like Pugeot’s Climb Dance – Climb Attack sets a new benchmark in image quality and presentation of the ever changing Pike’s Peak surface.
To date, November 2009, Climb Attack has over 500,000 plays through YouTube, Vimeo, and Streetfire. It has been syndicated on AutoBlog, Fast Lane Daily, Top Gear UK’s blog, Speedhunters.com, and hundreds more.
The 2009 Motor Press Guild Awards are on Decemeber 8, 2009 in El Segundo, California.
