Day three of my StreetFire.net & Texas Mile trip through Texas Ricky Chu and I found ourselves at the first day of the event. Ready to watch John Hennessey push his Corvette ZR1 and Nissan GT-R through the standing mile track and see how fast they could get going on the 5,280 stretch of concrete before them.
Weather was dark and cloudy in the morning but broke out to be a sunny and warm day later in the afternoon. So check out the rest of the rental car abuse, jumping on beds, and high speed shootout photos:
After we arrived in Houston we drove to the event location outside of Goliad, Texas. Rainy Wednesday and Thursday.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but we don’t want to get hosed again. Isn’t this common practice everywhere now!? don’t feel sorry.

Self Portraits… F’that.

Small towns in Texas have amazing old buildings and abandoned property. Like this closed Auto Body shop.

Truck parts? I dig how this building looks with the wet ground and dark skies. Glad I had my Panasonic LX-2 handy.

This building on risers deserved closer inspection.

Anyone home?

Cool address numbers, siding, and roof.

Time to get back on the road. If only the Cobalt would go fast enough to make me yell.

Don’t be a LAZY F.

Lazy F’er.

Back on the road towards the Texas Mile event location.

Ricky pilots the rental Chevrolet Cobalt Sedan.

The former county airport home of the Texas Mile speed shootout. Here are some things I liked enough to photograph while exploring:

Found on the old runway.

The rental car is suffering under my e-brake abuse. Mud slinging some Texas turns.

I love abandoned buildings. There is beauty in the breakdown.
